Actually Day 22 (which makes yesterday Day 21)-Officially Back on Trail!
After a very hot night in the bunkhouse, Sure Foot and I packed up and headed back to the trail. Primo and crew were taking a zero.
Back on trail and a nice long uphill!

Oh look, there’s a centipede there too!

Everything seems to be leafing out. Flowers are popping up, and trees are blooming. Lots of dogwood trees.

The top of the climb was Snowbird Mtn. It’s another bald. This one has an FAA tower on it.

We thought today’s mileage was going to be 9.4, but turns out it was 7.1. That’s okay after 4 days off. We called it a day at the campsite near Groundhog Creek Shelter. We arrived at 2:00. It’s kind of off and on windy, but not supposed to rain. One other hiker came by. Name is Smiley. He’s staying at the Shelter. He went through the Smokies even though they are closed.
Here’s a photo of my trail buddy. I think it shows how happy we are to be back on trail!
Good you are back on the trail, but sorry you will miss the Smokey's. They are beautiful and that portion of the Appalachian Mountains was preserved in a National Park for good reason. Maybe you will get back there another time.
