Day 76-Waynesboro Here We Come!

June 2-8.8 miles-campsite to Rockfish Gap (then Waynesboro)-AT mile 864.3

We lollygagged around this morning at the campsite as we didn’t have far to go, and we were staying at a hotel (can’t check-in too early). Also, for a brief time it sprinkled. The rain stopped, and we got on the trail around 7:30. We had 8.8 miles to Rockfish Gap, where we could get shuttled into Waynesboro.

The trail was a whole lot nicer than yesterday with only a few rocks here and there.

Now that is some nice trail!

Dusty and I were walking along, when Dusty happened to look behind us and saw we had a third hiking partner.

You’ll have to zoom in to see the butt of a doe. She was following us on the trail. As soon as we noticed her, she decided to take a shortcut.

See ya down the trail!

We had a few views, but nothing new from yesterday.

Nice last bit of sunrise.

There was a view .2 off the trail called Glass Hollow Overlook. We opted to not go there. We did walk by a cemetery, and this chimney.

After a number of little and not so little ups and downs, we popped out at Rockfish Gap.

This is where the Blue Ridge Parkway ends (or begins), and Skyline Drive begins (or ends).

BRP

Skyline Drive (see the white blaze on the overpass?)

This was where we called DuBose “Yellow Truck” for a shuttle after the guy from Stanimals was rude to Dusty. DuBose was there in 20 minutes, and charged us nothing (we did give him a tip). Her was a great guy, and he will be returning us to the trail on Thursday.

We are staying at the Quality Inn in downtown Waynesboro. It’s close to everything we need except the outfitter. We’ll walk there tomorrow (1.5 miles).

Now we must find dinner...
