Day 77-A Few Miles on a Zero Day
June 3-zero forward miles-Waynesboro

Of course, the Visitor Center is not open.

This old metalcrafters building is for sale, if you’re interested.

I had a friend who had a t-shirt that said, “A woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle.” But, I’m thinking, if a fish has a bicycle, it must need a rack!

Clearly, these two murals were done by the same artist.

In Waynesboro, there is a Target Distribution Center, a Little Debbie factory, and a Hershey’s factory. I bet if there wasn’t the virus, we could have toured the Little Debbie factory, and maybe the Hershey’s factory too! *sigh*

We hoofed it the 1.4 miles to Rockfish Outfitters this morning. Along the way we learned a bit about Waynesboro.

There was also some murals and sculptures (one also known as a bike rack)

At the outfitter, I bought some bug repellent lotion. We are now getting into the thick of the ticks. Sure Foot has found three on himself so far. We do tick checks on each other. While I’m hiking I’m okay because I wear long pants and my stinky pink shirt which have both been treated by Insect Shield (good for 70 washings). I also have bug repellent socks. But, if I want to take my long pants off, and wear my shorts in camp, then there is not so much protection.
Dusty and I also got Appalachian Trail Buffs. Odyssey bought one for Scout for his birthday in Damascus, but it was the only one left. Dusty and I got the last two AT buffs at the outfitter. I also broke down and bought a shirt for town. If was on the clearance rack. The bad thing is it is white. But, it was one of the few short sleeve shirts the outfitter had. At least it’s lightweight.
After the outfitter, we hoofed it back to the hotel (I seriously thought about calling an Uber). SF and I stopped at Sam’s Hot Dogs and picked up hot dogs for lunch (to go with my salad which was, unfortunately, frozen in the mini fridge).
Refueled, we walked over to Walmart to get our resupply. Four more days of food into the pack. We learned that only one of the Waysides along Skyline Drive is open. Fortunately, it’s about halfway.
Now I think I will take a nap...
