Day 80-The Shenandoahs During COVID Are Not So Much Fun
June 6-20.7 trail miles but an extra .5 with side trips-Pinefield Hut to Bearfence Hut-AT mile 918.8

900 miles done.

Then another went bounding through the woods as I was walking back to the trail. Then when I got to the first crossing of Skyline Dr, there was another deer.
I see you!

This one is a little dull in color

Now here’s a nice bright one.

This doesn’t really show the steepness, but trust me, it was.

Okay, I did get a few of the fog and flowers...and fungi.

Oh, and a giant grub!
Yep, we passed another hundred mile marker!

We started early since we knew we had 20.7 miles today. Dusty took off first. I was on the trail next at just before 6:30. As I was leaving, a deer wandered into the hut area.

I also saw a couple of my little orange friends.

There were many hills today. Too many for 20 miles, if you ask me!
This doesn’t really show the steepness, but trust me, it was.
There wasn’t much in the way of views except at the top of High Top Mtn.

Years ago, when I was doing Sierra Cascades bike tour, I wrote a post about Morning Colleen and Afternoon Colleen. Today I could have written that post again, only Morning Two Wheels and Afternoon Two Wheels. Morning Two Wheels is all happy, and enjoying the trail. Afternoon Two Wheels...well, she is not happy. She wonders why she EVER thought this was a good idea! That was definitely the case today! Really, I think 20 is just too much (or at least it has been the two we’ve done). I don’t feel like I can enjoy the trail (although, when Afternoon Two Wheels is out, I wouldn’t enjoy it even if it was good). But, we all made it, sore feet (and shoulders, and hips, and basically every part of my body). It doesn’t help that we have not been impressed with the Shenandoahs. I think the issue is with the virus. The Waysides aren’t open, neither are the campgrounds. Today, a picnic site didn’t have the water on (I had a plan for that picnic place...I was going to dump my trash, which I did do that, I was going to drink a bunch of water and take my shoes off).
Well, we just have 3 more days, then we’ll be out of this National Park!
