Day 105-A Shave and a Relaxing Day

July 1-0 miles-Dave and Squeak’s

It felt so good to sleep until 6 something! Of course, Dusty and Sure Foot were long since up (Sure Foot had been to Dunkin Donuts at 5:30). I meandered over to Dunkin Donuts myself after awhile. It was the first time I’ve been asked to wear a mask (I had my Buff on, so no problem, except it steamed up my glasses).

I asked Squeak if the haircut place was open. I really needed to have my undershave redone. She said Respect had some clippers. I told her Hippy had shaved it for me in Pearisburg. She said Hippy had stayed here a few times, and wouldn’t it be funny if she did the shave this time. I thought that was a grand idea! She even texted Hippy to tell him.

It feels so good to have that hair gone!

She gave Sure Foot a shave too! Now we look like we just started hiking yesterday!

Squeak and Respect headed out for their overnight adventure in New York. Dave took Captain Hook and Bad Ass Bean back to the trail, then came back and took Dusty to the airport.

I’ve mostly been sitting around today, enjoying not hiking. Siddartha is still here too (he flipped a coin to decide whether to zero or not.

Tomorrow, I will be slackpacking 9 miles to get up the rock climb, and get over some of the next 20 miles of solid rocks. Dave will bring my pack to a parking lot. I’ll carry my little daypack with water, lunch, and my rain jacket. Squeak told me the rock climb is quite challenging. I’m hoping, without my pack, that I can do it. Sure Foot is going to carry his pack. He’s much better at rock climbing than I am. It’s going to be very warm tomorrow, so we’ll get an early start.

Our humble abodes for another night.
