This shelter is pretty new. Of course, we are in our tents. By the way, so far, the thunderstorm has not dumped any rain, but we have been hearing thunder in the distance.
Today was supposed to be an 18 miler with no opportunity for a deli (it would be closed by the time we got there). We decided that was unacceptable. Plus, there was a chance of thunderstorms in the early afternoon. However, we didn’t make that change until we were partway through the day, so at about 10:00, we only had 5 miles to go. Excellent!

Water continues to be a bit of an issue. At lunch, we were at a “stream”. Well, it wasn’t much of one. We only had 2.6 miles to go, so we weren’t really worried, but I thought I’d have a look anyway. I could hear the faintest trickle of water. I found a pipe that had just a trickle of water coming out. With patience, I was able to get a liter.
We climbed the two mountains (pictured above), then came down to Brink Road Shelter. There is a spring here, but it requires scooping to get the water. I used a ziplock bag. It worked.
It was just Sure Foot and I because we got here at 1:45. It’s our first New Jersey Shelter. It has a bear box! And the privy is pretty nice (as privies go). Now, there is another woman (started at Springer, but got off at Neel Gap, now flip flopping from Harpers Ferry), a school teacher doing a month long section, and...a whole bunch of kids from a youth group that just rolled in...yay.

Tomorrow we have 4.6 miles to the Sunrise Deli. We are going to get breakfast (2nd breakfast), and pack out lunch. They open at 4:00am, but we’ll probably get there about 9:30. Then we’ll decide if we want to do a 15.1 mile day, or 19. Can you guess which one we’ll probably do?
