Day 122-Ten Things About Today

July 18-15.2 miles-Wingdale to Schaghticoke Campsite-AT mile-1466.9

Here’s ten things about today (not necessarily in chronological order).

10) We got a free ride back to the trail from Bill, the motel owner. That meant we didn’t have to pay another $15 to go 2.7 miles.

9) We saw this cool wooden water tower.

Have doubts it’s still functioning.

8) Got our feet wet walking through pastures this morning.

The orange blazes were a little confusing (Guthook assured us we were on the AT).

Before we even made it all the way through the pastures, the fog had burned off.

7) Spent more time walking on boards today.

Some could use a bit of repair.

6) Came to some awesome trail magic.

I had a Powerade, some fruit snacks, and some trail mix.

5) Met the woman who did the Trail Magic!

Chris is awesome! She offered to shuttle us into Kent where we could get a much better resupply than the glorified convenience store in Gaylordville. She met us at Bulls Bridge Road, and took us to the IGA in Kent, then took us back to the trail!

4) We crossed into state number 10, Connecticut! Then we crossed back to NY. Then we crossed into Connecticut for good (goodbye New York)!

Flat Will and LB have also entered their 10th State!

Leaving New York for good.

3) We passed the 2/3s mark! At Ten Mile Shelter, we passed mile 1462. We now have just 1/3 of the trail to go!

2) We got a couple of good views today.

See the red barn down below? We drove by that barn with Chris in the way to the store. It was a long climb up Schaghticoke Mtn.

And now...
1) There are still rocks in Connecticut. One guy told us Connecticut was a dirt path. It is not.

Not dirt.

And here is one final photo taken at the water source for our campsite.

He was croaking at us when we first started scooping water. We told him not to worry, we wouldn’t take it all.
